Big Plans for our Cities

New York City has just announced major infrastructure projects to improve New Yorkers’ quality of life. Beginning in Summer 2016, the city will start replacing pay phones with 7,500 tech kiosks, creating the world’s most expansive and efficient public WiFi network, offering NYC users broadband speeds of up to 1,000 megabits per second. The city’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced that all 277 underground subway stations will have WiFi service by the end of 2016, and by the end of 2017 all passengers will be able to pay subway and bus fares using a cellphone. Our major U.S. cities are looking at ways to become “smarter” and more flexible in responding to citizens’ needs. There is a major movement happening toward “Smart Cities” and we believe that there is much opportunity for our clients’ business development during this time!

These topics, among others, will be discussed at the US Capital Projects and Infrastructure Summit, taking place at the Harmonie Club in New York City on April 5, 2016. The meeting provides updates on financial and operational developments across manufacturing, extraction, social, transportation, utilities and telecommunication infrastructure projects in the US.
